The independent bottler "The Liquid Madness" is an offshoot of The Caskhound and so Tilo Schnabel and Sebastian Büssing bottled this Pokeno as a special single cask finish for the German market. After the initial maturation in a first fill Bourbon cask, they opted for a very special 3-month cask finish with the Manuka Honey Cask, which was then bottled at cask strength and not coloured or chill-filtered. The Pokeno whisky from New Zealand is made using spring water from the hilly landscape characterised by volcanic rock that surrounds the distillery. The barley comes from family-run farms located in the fertile south of the island. After a total of 4 years and 2 months, a Single Malt Whisky with warming, rich and beautifully integrated honey notes and fine vanilla spice was created. Although PŌKENO's whiskies are distilled in the classic Scottish tradition, they benefit greatly from the deliberately decelerated production process: small production batches, exceptionally long fermentation times of over 80 hours and particularly slow distillation in copper Pot Still stills. The distillery also utilises other advantages of its terroir - such as its own yeast cultures, special types of malt and globally unique barrels made from local Totara wood, which have a significantly faster effect on the whisky in the subtropical climate. The Angels' Share is up to nine per cent per year! It is therefore not surprising that this New Zealand Single Malt Whisky creation was bottled shortly after it passed the age of four.

Crown Royal Blended Whisky comes from Canada and is produced at the Crown Royal Distillery in Gimli, Manitoba, on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg. The distillery was founded in the late 1930s and is now one of the largest and most modern production facilities in the country. The harsh climate of the region - cold winters and warm summers - contributes significantly to the maturation of the whisky, as the temperature fluctuations intensify the exchange between the wood and the distillate. Crown Royal is a blend of around fifty different whiskies, each of which is produced at the distillery and then married together. The components mainly include Canadian rye, corn and malt whiskies, which are distilled on different stills - both in column stills and in pot stills. This variety of base distillates allows for a wide range of flavours, which are brought together during blending to create a harmonious overall picture. The individual whiskies are matured in different types of cask, mainly in American white oak casks. Both new, heavily burnt casks and used bourbon casks are used, occasionally supplemented by casks that previously contained sherry. This combination creates a complex spectrum of flavours. The taste of Crown Royal is soft, round and balanced. It combines sweet vanilla and caramel tones with a hint of grain, light spice and a smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel, which makes it typically Canadian and particularly accessible. Crown Royal Blended Whisky is Canada's flagship when it comes to premium whisky. It was created in 1939 in honour of the visit of the British King George VI.
