The Fercullen Estate Series 3 - The Gates is a very special Single Malt from the Irish Powerscourt distillery. The bottling was carefully blended from bourbon barrel-matured single malts and other single malts that rested in Amarone wine casks. The whiskey is the third edition of The Estate Series, in which the distillery combines interesting, very well-matched cask maturations. Fercullen The Estate Series Issue No 3 - The Gates was bottled at 46% vol. without chill-filtering and in limited quantities!

Aroma: Eine Kombination von Sommerfrüchten aus Erdbeeren, Kirschen, Pflaumen und Limette trifft auf Minze und geschnittenes Heu.
Geschmack: Vanille-, Honig- und Puddingnoten verschmelzen mit geschmorten Sommerfrüchten und Aromen von leicht gesüßten Keksen.
Abgang: Lang mit Facetten von Früchte-Pudding, dazu eine sanfte Eichenwürze.

Kommentar: Meiner Meinung nach ist der richtig gut gelungen und hat die Nase deutlich vor dem 15 Jährigen. Das leere Glas vom Vorabend hatte noch starke Aromen von Vanille und Früchte. Wer die Möglichkeit hat, die Distillery zu besuchen, sollte das unbedingt machen. Der Empfang ist schon sehr herzlich und alles weitere nimmt seinen Lauf. Zurück zum Thema. Der Malt Whiskey mit ein Finish in Ex-Amarone-Fass macht richtig Spaß. Die Lagerung im Ex-Bourbon-Fässern nimmt die Nase gleich nach dem öffnen auf.
