Glen Els The Journey symbolises the journey of one of Germany's best-known whisky brands. This edition combines traditional craftsmanship with the joy of experimentation typical of the Hammerschmiede and presents a Single Malt that impressively showcases the diversity of different cask maturations. For this bottling, predominantly non-smoky malts were used, supplemented by a small proportion of smoky malt, which gives the whisky additional depth. Maturation took place in an unusual combination of sherry, port, Madeira, Marsala, Malaga and Grand Cru casks. This multi-layered cask management has resulted in a complex Single Malt with a pronounced fruitiness, spicy accents and a harmonious balance between sweetness and cask spice. Bottled as a 2019 edition at 43% vol. and limited to 1,100 bottles, The Journey has a special place in the history of the brand. The bottling is one of the last regular releases under the Glen Els name before the distillery reorganised its brand identity. This whisky therefore not only symbolises the distillery's creative cask skills, but also an important stage in its development.

Ernston 04.04.2019Aroma: Am Anfang etwas zurückhaltend, mit der Zeit immer fruchtiger und süßer
Geschmack: Süß, süß, süß, man kann wirklich von einem likörartigen Geschmack sprechen,
vor allem Marsala, Madeira, Port und manchmal so was wie kandierte Orange, Eiche und Rauch schmecke ich kaum
Abgang: Relativ kurz, süßwürzig, etwas bitter
Kommentar: Sehr ungewöhnlich, bestimmt nicht jedermanns Geschmack, ich finde den als tolle Ergänzung zu meinen anderen Whiskys.

Tobiason 21.09.2018Aroma: Erstmal kommt die Frucht ( Pflaumen), geht über in ein angenehmen Eichengeruch, leicht würzig und Korn.
Geschmack: Trocken, Eiche, Gewürze ( nicht scharf, nicht penetrant), eine Bittere Frucht ( Pampelmuse würd ich sagen), alles gut im Einklang und saubere Übergänge.
Abgang: Trocken, Staubig, Eiche. Fertig. Ne.... die Bittere Frucht ist auch noch etwas da.
