Highland Park Dragon Legend shows the strongest side of the island distillery. The Single Malt is particularly intense and smoky. Dragons were both feared and revered by the Vikings. According to legend, the warrior Sigurd gained magical powers by defeating one of these mythical creatures.

    Aroma: Süßrauchig mit Honig, dunkler Schokolade und Sherry.

    Geschmack: Weich, malzig und würzig – Toffee, getrocknete Früchte und ein Schuss Rauch, der schön rund bleibt.

    Abgang: Mittellang, leicht trocken, mit Vanille, Gewürzen und etwas Rauch im Nachhall.

    Kommentar: Ein kräftiger, aber ausgewogener Highland Park. Etwas dunkler und süßer als die Standard-Abfüllung

    Finish: Oak Peat Smoke Spices

    Comment: On the nose, neat, some peat smoke, a little mixed fruit, a hint of undefined spice and a nice fruit cake note. With water the fresh fruit blends with the cake to make a kind of cake with half-dried, juicy fruit, it's quite nice, the peat doesn't get much more intense (like with many other peated whiskies) and the spices get a little more defined, allspice and a little nutmeg.

    On the palate, neat, a bit sweet but also a dry astringency from the oak wood, some peat smoke, more subtle than expected. With water the sweetness becomes more present and a herbal note appears. A bit young tasting.

    Finish is middle-long and not super complex, oak, peat, faint spice, the herbal note appear after water is added.

    Overall not an outstanding whisky, I would have like to try a heavily peated Highland Park but this is perfectly drinkable. -0.5 stars for only 43.1%

    Aroma: Zuerst Sherry (Früchte wie Datteln, Feigen, Orange,) Walnüße, zarter dennoch pikanter Rauch (ca. 10 bis 12 PPM), Vanille und Heidekräuter.

    Geschmack: Sherrywürzig, süß und weich: Der Drache speit einem viele Trockenfrüchte, Vanille und Rauch entgegen.

    Abgang: Maximal mittel: Ein facettenreicher Ausklang mit Sherry, Vanille, Früchten, Heidekraut und etwas Brausepulver.

    Kommentar: Toller Highland Park! Gänzlich in Sherryfass gereift! Hat man selten von dieser Brennerei! Preis/Leistung qualitativ sehr gut. Würze, Süße, Rauch, Abgang was soll man besser machen? Außer vielleicht mal eine Altersangabe einführen! Hinten raus merkt man dann, das er nicht so alt sein kann (schätze so zwischen 6 und 8 Jahre!). Trotzdem ein tolles Produkt.
