The Double Black is the most distinctive Blend in the Johnnie Walker programme to date and is considered the wild little brother of Johnnie Walker Black Label. The whiskies it contains come from the west coast of Scotland and have a natural smoky flavour, which is made even fuller and more intense by the maturation in burnt casks. The main ingredient is based on Caol Ila 12 year old, which is one of the most popular smoky Islay whiskies, and Cardhu whisky. Numerous other ingredients are carefully combined by the Johnnie Walker Master Blender through the elaborate and repeatedly optimised blending process, which combines sweet smoke with floral and fruity notes.

Kommentar: Kein Genuss-, sondern ein Trinkwhisky. Wenn es mal ohne sensorische Herausforderungen oder zu erkundenden Genuss sein soll. Minimaler Rauch, vergleichbar mit einem verdünnten Bowmore. Erkennbar, vorhanden, aber definitiv geringer Rauch. Süffig, trotz der eher herben Noten. Massenkompatibel, ohne billig zu wirken. Insgesamt vollkommen in Ordnung. -
