Kavalan Distillery Select matures in a subtropical climate, which brings out its typically soft and fruity character. Kavalan is the traditional name of the Yilan region in Taiwan, where the Kavalan distillery is located. The region is ideal for whisky production, among other things, because it is known for its numerous natural springs that provide light and fresh water. The second bottling in the KAVALAN Distillery Select series impresses with its seductive smoothness and deep flavours. With a harmonious combination of floral and herbal notes, it unfolds a fascinating complexity reminiscent of the calming atmosphere of a forest.

    Kommentar: Schon extrem süß und für mich deutlich zu süß für einen Whisky. Ich habe auch noch nie einen derart süßen Whisky getrunken (mal abgesehen vielleicht von Signatory Caol Ila Abfüllungen mit Sherry finish, die durch den Rauchanteil dann aber eine ganz andere Prägung bekommen). Hätte ich den blind bekommen, hätte ich ganz klar auf einen Solera-Rum getippt. Aus dem Grund ordentlich Abzug. Ohne diese extreme Süße wäre das vermutlich ein recht guter Tropfen. Wer es sehr süß mag, für den wird es etwas sein.

    Aroma: Kraftvoller mit blumigen und grasigen Aromen, sanfte Vanille gepaart mit Anklängen von angenehm holzigen und würzigen Noten in vielen Schichten.

    Geschmack: Weich und rund mit reichhaltigem Charakter, angenehm am Gaumen.

    Abgang: Langanhaltend.
