Product description
The Laphroaig matured for a quarter of a century in ex-bourbon casks, carefully selected and blended by the master distiller. A quarter of a century of maturation means that the peat smoke flavours fade into the background and combine harmoniously with the oak and vanilla notes of the casks to create an elegant Single Malt Whisky from Islay. This bottling from 2023 is interestingly somewhat fruitier than the previous vintages. The tasting video contains a bottle from a series bottled in earlier years.

The area around the distillery, which is located on the remote island of Islay (pronounced 'Ei-la') off the west coast of Scotland, is just as beautiful. Kommentar: Dieses Batch hier ist absolut Klasse. Eine alte Bourbonfass Reifung nah an der Perfektion, man hat Vanille und diese intensiven Früchte. Die Medizin und der Rauch sind sehr im Hintergrund. Der hat sowas von perfekte Trinkstärke, leider viel zu süffig. Der Abgang ist sehr lang, man konnte den Rauch mit Teer, Salz und Eiche mit nussigkeit lange schmecken, dann aber dazu auch die Süße und Frucht. Ihm fehlt auch der Zitruskick vom Batch davor... ganz anders dieser. Kommt sehr nah an den 21er FOL von 2015 ran.
Für mich der perfekte Laphroaig, so auch dieser.

Kommentar: Habe diesen Whisky im Whisky.de Gewinnspiel auf Instagram gewonnen und er ist absolut Klasse. War davor was Laphroaig betrifft etwas zwiegespalten weil mir der Rauch oft etwas zu intensiv war aber das Teil hier...der Wahnsinn.
Der Rauch ist noch da aber im Hintergrund und macht Vanille, Karamell und Früchten Platz. Die Fasstärke ist nach 25 Jahren zur Trinkstärke geworden und einfach perfekt.
Hätte ich ihn nicht gewonnen wäre ich wohl nie in diesen Genuss gekommen, da ich ihn mir für fast 500€ nicht gekauft hätte.

Aroma: Weiche Raucharomen, die sich mit Noten von süßem Zimt, gerösteter Eiche, knackigen grünen Äpfeln und zarten Anklängen von Orangenschalen und Trockenfrüchten verbinden.

Geschmack: Reichhaltiger und komplexer Charakter mit Facetten von Menthol und Torfrauch, untermalt von Noten von Obstbäumen und tropischen Früchten.

Abgang: Fruchtiger und sanfter Verlauf, der mit einer langen und weichen Welle von Rauchigkeit endet.
