This Signatory Linkwood from the Vintage series spent 14 years in first fill Bolgheri wine hogsheads. Bolgheri is a very popular Tuscan red wine. The Speyside Single Malt has taken on the pre-maturation of the cask excellently and effortlessly convinces beginners and connoisseurs of dark, fruity whiskies.

Peter Brown founded the distillery in 1821. At its inception, the site had only two stills, and Whisky operation wasn't entirely legal yet. The distillery formally began operations in 1825, after Whisky distillation was legalized. Brown's original distillery operated with only one wash still and one spirit still. read more

Aroma: Berries Cherry Blackberry Black Currant Caramel Herbs Dunkle und rote Früchte und Beeren. Zunächst in eine frische Richtung nach Johannisbeeren und Schattenmorellen. Dann aber auch süßere Früchte wie Brombeeren und Himbeeren. Eine Süße nach Karamellfudges. Gartenkräuter und eine trockene Würzigkeit.

Geschmack: Sweet Grape Spices Süßer, quietschiger Traubensaft. Leicht prickelnde, tanninige Würzigkeit. Eingelegte Sauerkirschen. Ein Hauch von Eiche (auch wenn der Abgang nicht zu lange hält).

Abgang: Sweet Grape Spices Herb Oak Schöne rotfruchtige Traubensüße und eine dazu passende angenehme Würzigkeit mit weißem Pfeffer und Muskatnuß. Adstringierend mit dezenter Eichenbitterkeit.

Kommentar: gelungene fruchtig-frische Rotweinreifung zu einem fairen Preis. Gefährlich süffig. Mit 1-2 Tropfen Wasser kann man noch ein wenig mehr herbe Fruchtigkeit herauskitzeln.

Kommentar: Seine Reifung im Rotweinfass ist unverkennbar - passt aber sehr gut.
Meine Frau hat, wie fast immer, 1mal kurz probiert und sich dann ein eigenes Glas geholt. Das kommt nicht so oft vor.
