Product description
The Blended Malt Monkey Shoulder comes from William Grant. It is a blend of three malt whiskies from the distilleries Glenfiddich, Balvenie and, for the most part, Kininvie. The Kininvie distillery is a Speyside distillery located in Dufftown, more precisely in Moray. Distillation at the Kininvie distillery is computerised, but it does not have its own mash house. The liquid required for fermentation is therefore obtained via a pipeline from the Balvenie distillery around 200 metres away. Kininvie uses its own mash tun and fermentation vats on the Balvenie site and processes barley to its own specifications. The distillery is owned by William Grant & Sons and the distillery's products are otherwise used for expensive Single Malts or premium Blended Whisky brands. The Monkey Shoulder is therefore an ideal opportunity to explore the flavours of the Speyside distillery at a more affordable price than usual. The name "Monkey Shoulder" comes from traditional whisky production. In the past, the malt was turned by hand, which often led to hanging arms and a hunched posture of the workers during long shifts - similar to the posture of a monkey. Today, the name is merely a reminder of these original "malt men" and their hard labour. Somewhat unusually, the names of the distilleries included in the Monkey Shoulder are also known. But who would say no to a Blended Malt from the popular and established distilleries Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie? The Single Malts were married for 3 to 6 months in first-fill ex-bourbon casks.

Warum Mixen? -
