This elegant Mortlach Single Malt was distilled in 1989 and matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry octaves after being matured in a Bourbon hogshead. This whisky rarity combines richness and structure with remarkable finesse. Flavours of barley sugar and beeswax develop into creamy fudge, dried apricot and fruity oak, while the finish in PX octaves lends a luxurious depth. With the Aficionado series, independent bottler Murray McDavid presents Single Malts that have been matured in casks for over three decades, including this Mortlach Whisky. Bottled at 40.1% vol. without the addition of colour and without chill-filtering, this rare Speyside stands for skilful cask maturation combined with a good dose of patience and taste. The Distillery: Mortlach

Mortlach war die erste der berühmten sieben Brennereien in Dufftown. Früher hieß der Ort Mortlach und war ein sehr kleines Dorf, und so kam auch die Brennerei zu ihrem Namen. Außerdem war die Brennerei auch die erste legale der Stadt. Sie unterscheidet sich durchaus von den anderen Brennereien, vor allem wenn man die erhöhte Anzahl an illegalen Tätigkeiten betrachtet, die damals auf dem Gelände betrieben wurden. read more
