The Nc'Nean AON STR Red Wine Cask is part of The Awakening Series, which the German importer Kirsch created on the occasion of Whisky Live in Hamburg together with the Highland distillery and the artist Emily Bunn, who took care of the hand-painted label of the bottle with beautiful oil colours. The Single Malt Whisky celebrated its first release at Whisky Live in Hamburg and also celebrates the 25th year of Whisky Live. Kirsch Import succeeded in bringing the global trade fair to Germany for the first time. In addition to Germany, the fair has already been held in 20 cities around the world. These include metropolises such as Bangkok, Buenos Aires, London, Singapore and Melbourne. The Nc'Nean Aon matured in a reconditioned ex-red wine barrel. In technical jargon, this is referred to as a "rejuvinated cask", whereby a previously used cask undergoes a rejuvenation process and is shaved, toasted and recharred. The whiskies matured in these STR casks are considered to be pleasantly smooth and are given gentle accents of smoke with a subtle sweetness by the charcoal layer inside the cask, but the aromatic characteristics of the cask type - in this case red wine - are also retained and subtly released into the whisky during the maturation period. The cask was hand-selected by Kirsch Import and Nc'nean and bottled at cask strength without the addition of colour and without chill-filtering at 59.6% vol. A real taste and eye-catcher!
