Product description

This Aon is a creation from the sustainable and women-run Nc'nean Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Organically grown Scottish barley, excellent casks and Scottish whisky tradition come together in Nc'nean's bottlings and create characteristic bottlings that are presented in beautifully decorated recycled glass bottles. As for the Aon Amarone Cask Finish bottled exclusively for a German importer, a first-fill bourbon cask was used first. The whisky was then refined in a single Amarone cask for the very first time in Nc'nean's distilling history, giving the Single Malt distinctly fruity accents with flavours of cocoa, Madel butter and cardamom cake. It was bottled at natural cask strength at 59.3% without chill-filtering and without the addition of colour. The result is a beautiful Highland malt with a successful flavour.

The Distillery: Nc'nean

The Nc'nean distillery on the Morvern Peninsula, which opened in March 2017, describes itself as Scotland's first organic Whisky distillery. The name is an abbreviation of Neachneohain, a ghost queen from Gaelic legends, and is pronounced 'Nook-knee-anne'. read more

Kommentar: Neben einer Alkoholnote - die sich nach einer Minute im Glas verflüchtigt - süß-würzige Früchte in der Nase, wobei die Vanille für mich sehr dezent ist.
Zunächst süßer Honig, dann kräftig-malzig und fruchtig. Zum Ende hin Gewürze und (für mich zu) scharfer Pfeffer, aber auch nussig.
Sehr langer Abgang mit zunächst kräftigem Sherry. Dann, zeitlich sehr verzögert, wandelt sich Eiche in leichten Pfirsich.
