Product description
The 12-year-old Old Pulteney is the flagship and 'core flavour' of the distillery's range, matured entirely in bourbon casks. Pulteney is one of the northernmost distilleries on the Scottish mainland and is based in the remote village of Wick. James Henderson founded the distillery in 1826 to quench the thirst of the labourers and fishermen who did their work in the former 'herring capital'. In 2018, the entire range was relaunched.

Pulteney
For a long time Pulteney could be called the most northern distillery on the Scottish mainland. When Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso opened in 2013 they took over this title, but Pulteney hasn’t lost its attraction on Whisky lovers. The coastal style of the Old Pulteney Whisky (as the Whiskies from Pulteney are called) is a very unique one and the releases use to be very well judged by the Whisky experts. read more

Kommentar: Schmeckt tatsächlich etwas salzig und das passt hervorragend in das Gesamtbild dieses zwölfjährigen Whiskys von der Küste. Auch die älteren Abfüllungen habe ich sehr gerne getrunken. Klare Empfehlung!

Aroma: Malt Caramel Grapefruit Maritime Notes Ein wenig salziges Karamell, herbe Pampelmuse und das was man gemeinhin gerne als maritim bezeichnet.

Geschmack: Salt Sweet Nuts Herb Spices Süß-salzig, nussig, leicht herb-bitter und ein paar Gewürze.

Abgang: Spices Maritime Notes Herb Oak Prickelnde Gewürze, wieder eine leichte Bitterkeit am Gaumen.

Kommentar: für eine reine Bourbon Reifung tatsächlich recht ungewöhnlich. Leider aber durch die 40% auch sehr leicht, bleibt dadurch deutlich unter seinem Potential.
