For Planteray Rum Mauritius, molasses is fermented for 2 days and distilled in column stills before the rum is matured for 9 years in ex-bourbon barrels in the small coastal town of Flic en Flac on Mauritius. The molasses rum was then transferred to the cognac producer Ferrand in France and refined for 2 years in ex-cognac casks. The result is a very tasty, fruity and spicy flavour experience.
