Product description

The Sexton is an Irish Single Malt from the Antrim region (Northern Ireland). Master blender Alex Thomas developed this whiskey and is also responsible for the special bottle design, which is reminiscent of the basalt rocks of the north coast of Ireland. After production, the Single Malt matured for 4 years in Oloroso sherry casks.

Kommentar: In der tollen Flasche erwartete ich einen minderen Whisky. Erst recht bei dem Preis. Aber der gar nicht schlecht, eine schöne Sherryreifung.

Beim ersten Mal...
Ein leichter für den Abend. Einsteigerfreundlich, aber zu unterkomplex für Fortgeschrittene. Kaufgründe sind das gute Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und die ikonische Flasche, daher schön als Geschenk.

der zweite Anlauf...
Der Sexton eignet sich offenbar so gut als Geschenk, dass ich ihn jetzt auch selbst bekommen habe. Ein Grund mehr, sich ihm erneut zu nähern. "The Sexton" und ich werden in diesem Leben keine innigen Freunde mehr. Als Solokünstler fehlt ihm einfach entweder der nötige Bums oder eine weiterführende Komplexität. Für den günstigen Preis kann man aber beides nicht erwarten. Reiht er sich jedoch in ein Duo mit einem passenden irischen Bier ein, entfaltet er seine Qualitäten als guter "Wingman". Ich werde ihn weiter gerne (an Einstiger) verschenken und meinen eigenen aufheben für ungebetene Gäste.
