With Stauning RØG, the Danish distillery is bringing a breath of fresh air to its core range and replacing the previous Smoke with an even finer, more balanced interpretation of smoky whisky. "RØG", the Danish word for smoke, stands for a style that focuses on the harmony of smoke and complements the flavour rather than dominating it. The Danish whisky is characterised by the rugged west coast of the Ringkøbing Fjord, where salty sea air meets vast fields of grain, creating an unmistakably Nordic character. For this double malt, locally grown rye and barley are traditionally malted on the ground and kilned over heather and peat - a combination that gives the whisky its unique mild, spicy smoky flavour. Maturation in American oak and a finish in Madeira casks provide additional depth and complexity. Stauning RØG thus combines gentle campfire smoke with fruity notes of stone fruit and a pleasant sweetness of caramelised oak. A modern, well-balanced whisky, ideal for anyone who appreciates fine, elegant smoky notes.

The Distillery: Stauning
The Stauning Whisky Distillery was founded in 2005 by nine friends in a former butcher's shop on the windswept west coast of Jutland. What began as a shared hobby has developed into one of Scandinavia's best-known Whisky distilleries. Surrounded by fields, moors and heathland, Stauning uses only Danish grain and consistently adheres to the principle of ‘from grain to glass’. Traditional malting floors, 24 direct-fired copper stills and peat and heather smoke give this Danish Whisky its distinctive character.
