The Observatory was produced at the Macduff distillery. The Speyside distillery lies in the shadow of the Macduff lighthouse, one of many lighthouses along the 16,500 kilometres of Scottish coastline. For 20 years, The Observatory matured there into a full-bodied Single Grain.

Macduff is one of the newer distilleries in Speyside, having been founded in 1958. Morty Dyke, George Crawford, James Stirret, and Brodie Hepburn founded the distillery. Together, they formed Macduff Distilleries Ltd. Construction of the distillery was completed in 1960, and the first cask filling occurred in June the same year. read more
