Product description

This whisky rarity from the Tobermory Distillery was bottled exclusively for the Wu Dram Clan by independent bottler Murray McDavid. The Wu-Dram Clan is a whisky team founded by three friends who have dedicated themselves to selecting only the best casks and bottling them under the Wu-Dram Clan label. Takesado Oj from Kyoto, Japan, Boris Borissov from Munich and Sebastian Jäger from the Black Forest also act as independent bottlers under the name Wu Dram Clan. For the 30-year-old Tobermory Whisky, they teamed up with Murray McDavid and tracked down a rare French oak cask in which the single malt spent its entire maturation period. The French oak cask gave the island whisky spicy elegance, depth and structure, which combines perfectly with Tobermory's maritime character. Multi-layered, complex and remarkably mild, the Single Malt, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2025, presents itself at its best age, without any added colouring or chill-filtering, at a cask strength of 52.4% vol. and in Murray McDavid's Mission Gold series. The Mission Gold series stands for particularly old, rare and exceptional whiskies that have matured in special casks and come from distilleries all over Scotland.

Kommentar: Fantastisch und vielschichtiger Whisky. Mir ist es ein Rätsel, wie der nach 30 Jahren in einem Virgin (!) französischem Eichenfass nicht ungenießbar ist. Für jeden der davor Sorge hat, gebe ich Entwarnung.

Aroma: Maritime Frische, feine Eichenwürze und warme Gewürznoten treffen auf getrocknete Aprikosen, Mandeln, Honig und subtile Kirschholzakzente. Die Allier-Eiche bringt Eleganz und Tiefe hinzu.

Geschmack: Weich und dennoch kraftvoll verbinden sich Muskat, Zimt, helle Eiche und reife Früchte mit Toffee. Orangenzeste und eine feine Kräuterfrische vereinen sich mit der maritimen Mineralität des Tobermory-Stils.

Abgang: Lang, komplex und wärmend, dazu Anklänge würziger Eiche, dunklem Honig sowie salzigen Meeresnoten. Das Finale ist von subtilen Früchtebrot- und Zartbitterschokoladearomen durchzogen.
