Product description
The 9-year-old Tormore is part of the 100 Proof Edition from Signatory Vintage. In this series, Single Malts are bottled at 57.1% vol., which corresponds exactly to 100 proof, an old designation for alcohol content. Whisky with 100 proof or higher was used as a benchmark in the heyday of seafaring, when gunpowder soaked in liquid could be ignited to ensure that the casks in the belly of the ship could withstand the harsh weather conditions at sea. The whisky was matured in first fill Oloroso sherry butts and Bourbon barrels, which gave the smooth Single Malt fruity facets, vanilla and caramel notes with sweet and spicy oak flavours.

Tormore
The Speyside Distillery Tormore was one of the first new distilleries that were built in the 20th century. It’s more known for its unique and pretty architecture than for its Whiskies which predominantly are used for Blends. Tormore Distillery was granted the status “listed buildings” in 1986 although it was less than 30 years old then. The Gaelic name “Torra Mhoir” means “the big hill”. read more

    Kommentar: Sehr angenehm. Der bleibt einem im Gedächtnis. Er wirkt zunächst eher zurückhaltend, aber dann bleibt er präsent und macht einen tollen Abgang. Bei den 100 Proof passt halt einfach Preis/Leistung!
