Woodford Reserve Bourbon is part of the series of four Kentucky straight whiskeys from the Woodford distillery, each of which contains one of the four main grains as the largest proportion: Corn (Bourbon), Rye (Rye), Malted Barley (Malt) and Wheat (Wheat). This whiskey is one of the few Kentucky Straight Bourbons to be distilled in Pot Still stills. Its flavour is correspondingly full-bodied. All bottles are individually numbered.

The Distillery: Woodford Reserve
Woodford Reserve is a very unique Bourbon distillery at Versailles, Kentucky, different from others. In contrast to common Bourbon distilleries that work with continuous stills they have three pot stills here to create a triple distilled aromatic Whiskey. Among the Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky Woodford Reserve is the smallest one. And if you look at the nice grey stone buildings in the very charming setting you also may agree that it is the most beautiful one.

Kommentar: Ausgesprochen milder Bourbon, dabei gleichzeitig überraschend würzig & dezent süß im Geschmack. Die Bourbon klassischen Vanille & Karamell Noten findet man im Aroma, im Geschmack weniger. Mit viel Fantasie schmeckt man noch die vermeintlichen Aprikose Noten, den Kakao habe ich vergeblich gesucht.

Geschmack: Weich, fruchtig und sanft: Eine einfache Würze (Vanille, Karamell) mit weichen glasierten Früchten. Zimt und Zucker.
Abgang: Kurz bis mittel: Ein klassischer Abgang mit Schokloade, Erdnussbutter und Aprikosen (fermentiert).
Kommentar: Toller einfacher Bourbon von Woodford Reserve. Vom Kernsortiment der Einfachste! Gefällig und einsteigerfreundlich! Preis/Leistung exzellent. Aber mit viel Luft nach oben! Dewegen "nur" Sterne!
