This 11-year-old Caol Ila was also discovered by James Eadie's descendant, finally matured and bottled at natural cask strength without the addition of colour and without chill-filtering at 57.4% vol. James Eadie was a Scottish brewer and entrepreneur who founded an important brewery in 1854 and became famous as a self-made man in the 19th century. The whisky entrepreneur was born near Gleneagles and started his career at an early age. He built up a successful existence through hard work and perseverance. James Eadie's legacy is carried on today by his descendant Rupert Patrick, the great-grandson's nephew, who has many years of international experience in the Scotch whisky industry. Rupert Patrick worked for Macleod Distillers, Beam Suntory and Diageo, among others, and was responsible for world-famous brands such as Johnnie Walker and Guinness. Through his recognised position as Keeper of the Quaich and member of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, he is regarded as a proven expert on Scotch whisky and the whisky business.
