The Holyrood Distillery Pitch Whisky is a Scottish Single Malt Whisky from the distillery founded in Edinburgh in 2019. Scottish Pot Still malt and brown malt were used to produce this whisky. Both types of malt are usually used for dark porter beers. As keen to experiment as ever, the Holyrood team explored the previously untapped potential of red wine yeasts for this bottling with the Pepe nero and Toro Nero Types. The malt delivered chocolate and hazelnut notes, while the specially balanced yeast varieties made the raw spirit fuller and more intense. The distillate was matured in Oloroso hogsheads before the Single Malt was bottled at 49.4% vol. without chill-filtration and without the addition of colouring.

Die Holyrood Distillery ist die erste Whisky Brennerei im Zentrum von Edinburgh seit über 100 Jahren. Sie wurde in einem ehemaligen Güterbahnhof aus dem Jahr 1831 gebaut. Neben Single Malt Whisky produziert die Brennerei auch eine Reihe an Gins und Likören.

Und etwas Pflaume - leichte Sherry Aromen -
Aber ganz stark im Vordergrund und im Geschmack und Abgang sind Kaffee Mocca - Kakao und geröstete Haselnuss -

Kommentar: Mal was anderes. Für mich gewöhnungsbedürftig aber nicht schlecht. In der Nase schwierig die ein oder andere Note zu bestimmen. Im Mund und Abgang dann klare Noten von Schoko und Nüssen. Kaum Süße vorhanden.
Geschmack: würzig & süß, nussig, Schokolade mit hohem Kakaoanteil, Kaffee

Kommentar: Diesen heftigen “Lowlander“ habe ich etwas vedünnt. Nicht wegen des Alkohols, sondern wegen der sehr starken Würze.
Danach gefiel er mir richtig gut.
