This 17-year-old cask strength Speyside whisky, whose exact origin is kept under lock and key, was bottled by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. The bottling matured in First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt and is part of Signatory's 100 Proof Edition, in which the whiskies were bottled at 57.1% vol. Cask strength. The term "proof" refers to a historical unit of measurement for the alcohol content of spirits, particularly whisky, which indicated the alcohol content at which gunpowder soaked in this liquid could be ignited. This method was used during the seafaring era to ensure that the casks could withstand the harsh conditions at sea. The small M in the name of the Speyside single malt indicates a renowned distillery known for its exclusive bottlings.
