Product description

The Penderyn Distillery continues its acclaimed Icons of Wales series with "Penderyn The Village". This is a whisky dedicated to one of the country's most imaginative and visually striking places: Portmeirion in North Wales. This 2026 bottling also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the village, which was designed as a lifelong architectural project by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. Portmeirion is no ordinary place. Built between 1925 and 1973, it combines Mediterranean architecture with the natural coastal landscape of Wales to create a colourful, almost surreal setting. Often described as a "fantasy village", it has attracted artists, film-makers and cultural figures for decades. It also gained international fame as the filming location for the cult series The Prisoner, in which themes such as identity and dom play a central role. This imagination and individuality form the creative core of the current Penderyn bottling. The whisky is distilled in Wales and then finished in Amarone wine casks, which gives it additional depth and richness. Bottled at 46 % vol. It reflects the distillery's characteristic style, which emphasises elegant maturation and a clear Welsh identity.

Die Penderyn Brennerei liegt im Brecon Beacons Nationalpark in Wales. Charakteristisch ist das eigens entwickelte Faraday-Brennverfahren, das in speziell angefertigten Kupferbrennblasen besonders reine und elegante Single Malts hervorbringt. Neben dem Hauptstandort betreibt Penderyn mittlerweile weitere Standorte in Wales: 2021 eröffnete eine zweite Brennerei in Llandudno, gefolgt von der Penderyn Distillery Swansea im Jahr 2023.
